Background Release

The third Meeting of States Parties to the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons will be held at the United Nations Headquarters from 3 to 7 March.

The Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf will hold its sixty-third session from 17 February to 21 March 2025 at United Nations Headquarters in New York. During the session, plenary meetings will be held from 24 to 28 February and from 10 to 14 March. The remainder of the session will be devoted to the technical examination of submissions by subcommissions on the Division premises, including geographic information systems laboratories and other facilities.

The thirty-fourth Meeting of States Parties to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea will be resumed at Headquarters on Wednesday, 27 November, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Conference Room 1, for the purpose of filling a seat in the Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf allocated to a member of the Commission from the African Group of States.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea and the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs, through its Regional Centre for Peace and Disarmament in Asia and the Pacific, on 4 and 5 November will co-host in Seoul the twenty-third Republic of Korea—United Nations Joint Conference on Disarmament and Non-Proliferation Issues.

The Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf will hold its sixty-second session from 7 October to 22 November.

The Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf will hold its sixty-first session from 8 July to 23 August at United Nations Headquarters in New York.

Government representatives will meet in New York from 18 to 28 June 2024 for the fourth United Nations Conference (RevCon4) to review progress made in the implementation of the Programme of Action on combating illicit small arms and light weapons.

The Special Committee on Decolonization will hold the Caribbean Regional Seminar in Caracas, from 14 to 16 May within the framework of the Fourth International Decade for the Eradication of Colonialism (2021-2030).
