In an emergency special session that resumed today, the General Assembly began its consideration of a draft resolution demanding an end to Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territory within 12 months, as Member States voiced overwhelming support for the text.
In a statement issued on 15 September, the Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator for Sudan called for the warring parties to refrain from targeting El Fasher and protect civilians. The International Organization for Migration estimated that at least 250 people were displaced in the latest round of fighting there.

Underscoring that the only credible measure of progress is the actual condition on the ground in Gaza, the head of United Nations humanitarian efforts in the Strip told the Security Council today that sufficient political will is sorely needed to ensure effective humanitarian operations amid restrictions, security incidents and continued suffering.

The Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs reports that hundreds of thousands of people in Nigeria have been impacted by flash floods after a dam collapsed in Maiduguri in Borno State. The Office says that immediate humanitarian needs include food, include shelter and clean water.
In Gaza, the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs led an assessment team to Al Mawasi camp today to identify the most urgent needs of the population and to mobilize to meet those needs.

Flooding continues to worsen across Chad, with nearly 1.5 million people now impacted. Chadian authorities, UN agencies and partners are providing urgent aid, and the UN Acting Emergency Relief Coordinator has increased the allocation of the Central Emergency Response Fund to support the response from $5 to $8 million.
On the situation in Venezuela, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) highlighted the urgent need for increased support for over 4 million Venezuelan refugees and migrants in the Americas.
