UNITED NATIONS GUIDES RECEIVE NEW UNIFORMS, DONATED BY NEW YORK-BASED LE MONTI


The United Nations is receiving a new donation of uniforms for its tour guides from Le Monti, a clothing company based in New York.  Le Monti is donating two full sets of uniforms for each of the 60 United Nations tour guides in New York over the next two years.

United Nations Population Award Ceremony


The United Nations Population Award was started in 1983 and is presented annually to individuals and institutions for their outstanding work in the field of population and in the improvement of the health and welfare of individuals.  Winners are selected by an Award Committee made up of representatives of United Nations Member States.

Olympic Torch Relay Event at United Nations Headquarters on Saturday, 19 June


On Saturday, 19 June 2004, the United Nations, in cooperation with the Permanent Mission of Greece to the United Nations and the City of New York, will host a special event to mark the ATHENS 2004 Olympic Torch Relay and the Olympic Truce.

MEMORIAL SERVICE TO HONOUR FALLEN STAFF TO BE HELD


AT UN HEADQUARTERS ON STAFF DAY, 11 JUNE


On Friday, 11 June, the United Nations will observe Staff Day, an official function sponsored jointly by the United Nations Secretary-General and the Staff Union.  Every year, Staff Day opens with a brief flag-raising ceremony to remember all personnel fallen in the service of the United Nations.
