The Department of Public Information will officially open a provocative exhibition from the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum on the important role of propaganda in bringing the Nazi Party to power, and in preparing the way for the Final Solution that resulted in the murder of 6 million Jewish people during the Holocaust.

An opening ceremony for an exhibition titled “Millennium Villages Project: A Photographic Essay on Sustainable Development” will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, 15 December, in the Visitors’ Lobby.  The exhibition is organized by the Earth Institute at Columbia University, Blue Chip Foundation and VII Association.

To mark the seventy-fifth anniversary of Babi Yar Ravine, the United Nations Department of Public Information, in partnership with the Permanent Missions of Ukraine and Israel to the United Nations, will host a round-table discussion from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, 2 November, in Conference Room 1 at United Nations Headquarters in New York.

The United Nations will celebrate the International Day of Peace on 16 September 2016.  The theme of this year’s observance is “The Sustainable Development Goals:  Building Blocks for Peace”.  In a video message released ahead of the Day, the Secretary-General said, “Peace is not just about putting weapons aside.  It is about building societies where people share the benefits of prosperity on a healthy planet.” Stressing that sustainable development was essential for lasting peace, he urged people everywhere to champion the Goals.
