Millennium Villages Project Exhibition Opens at Headquarters, 15 December

An opening ceremony for an exhibition titled “Millennium Villages Project: A Photographic Essay on Sustainable Development” will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, 15 December, in the Visitors’ Lobby.  The exhibition is organized by the Earth Institute at Columbia University, Blue Chip Foundation and VII Association.

During the ceremony, remarks will be made by Jeffrey Sachs, Director of the Sustainable Development Solutions Network; Amadou Niang, CEO of Millennium Promise; and Ron Haviv, co-founder of the photo agency VII.

This photo exhibition focuses on four projects implemented by the Millennium Villages in Ethiopia, Ghana, Rwanda and Senegal.  Led by Jeffrey Sachs, the Millennium Villages Project contributed to eliminating extreme poverty in 14 rural sites of 10 African countries in over 10 years (2005-2015) thanks to its integrated approach to rural development.  By showing that lives can be improved through small investments in agriculture, health, education, infrastructure and business development, the Millennium Villages Project provides a blueprint for future sustainable development projects.  The exhibition includes images by Ron Haviv, Ed Kashi, Gary Knight and Danny Wilcox Frazier.

The exhibition will be on display until 27 December.
