Spreading the word about the many ways the United Nations touches everyday lives, United Nations officials — including Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon — will visit more than 60 New York City public high schools from 17 to 28 October to commemorate United Nations Day.

A multimedia exhibition by artists and photographers representing the African diaspora will open in the North East Gallery of the Visitors Lobby at United Nations Headquarters at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, 19 October.

“Design with the Other 90%: Cities”, the second in a series of themed exhibitions by Cooper-Hewitt that demonstrate how design can address the world’s most critical issues, will open with a formal ceremony in the Main Gallery of the Visitors’ Lobby at 6 p.m. on Monday, 17 October.

On Tuesday, 13 September, starting at 11 a.m. New York time, United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon will be answering questions live from the public on several social media sites, streamed live on Facebook, Weibo, Livestream and UN Webcast.

The Yonhap News Agency, the Republic of Korea’s national newswire service, will open an exhibition of press photographs in the Visitors’ Lobby at 6 p.m. on Monday, 22 August. It will remain open to the public until 8 September.

The eighth anniversary of the bombing of the United Nations headquarters in Baghdad will be observed on Friday, 19 August, at a brief ceremony to be held at 10:15 a.m. in the public lobby of the General Assembly Building, in front of the memorial plaque located outside the Meditation Room.
