United Nations Population Fund to Hold Panel Discussion on Challenges,
Opportunities in World of 7 Billion People, 14 September
The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) will hold a panel discussion on the challenges and opportunities resulting from the milestone to be reached on 31 October, when the world is expected to welcome its seven-billionth person.
Titled “A World of Seven Billion People: Meeting the Challenges and Seizing the Opportunities”, the event will be held on 14 September, from 12 noon to 1:15 p.m., in Conference Room 4 of the North Lawn Temporary Conference Building. Moderating the panel will be international television host Riz Khan, and the panellists will include United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and UNFPA Executive Director Babatunde Osotimehin.
Also on the panel will be Carsten Staur, Permanent Representative of Denmark to the United Nations; Imane Khachani, a youth leader from Morocco; Naveen Salvadurai, new media innovator and founder of Foursquare; and Sheri S. McCoy, Vice-Chairman of Johnson & Johnson.
