An exhibition entitled “Indigenous Peoples and Food Sovereignty” will open with a cultural event and reception on Tuesday, 8 May, at 6:15 p.m. in the Main Gallery of the Visitors Lobby, marking the eleventh session of the Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues, at Headquarters, from 7 to 18 May.

The United Nations, in partnership with the State of Israel, will mark the 1961 trial of Adolf Eichmann, the mastermind behind the systematic mass deportation and murder of European Jews during the Holocaust, with a round-table discussion on 23 April in the North Lawn Building.

An exhibition titled “With Me Are 6 Million Accusers: The Eichmann Trial in Jerusalem”, will open with a formal ceremony at 6 p.m. on Thursday, 19 April in the Main Gallery of the Visitors Lobby.

Long after wars and other hostilities end, landmines and other unexploded ordnance — including bombs, mortars, grenades and missiles — still inflict pain and suffering on millions of people, often women and children in the world’s poorest areas.

A multimedia exhibition to mark the International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade will open in the Main Gallery of the Visitors Lobby on Tuesday, 27 March at 6 p.m.

The fifth annual commemoration of the International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade will be observed at United Nations Headquarters under the theme "The Transatlantic Slave Trade: Honouring the Heroes, Resisters and Survivors". This year’s theme will focus on many of the courageous individuals who, in various ways, resisted slavery and fought for their own freedom and that of others.

The United Nations Department of Public Information and the Permanent Missions of the Czech Republic and of Slovakia to the United Nations will screen the award-winning documentary film "Nicky’s Family" on 15 March 2012 at the Bohemian National Hall in New York City.

On the 101st anniversary of International Women’s Day, 8 March, the United Nations Population Fund, UNFPA, is hosting a reception at 6 p.m. in the North-East Gallery of the Visitors Lobby to mark the opening of a unique quilt exhibition titled “Women are the Fabric”.

In observance of International Women’s Day on 8 March, The Holocaust and the United Nations Outreach Programme is partnering with the University of Southern California’s Shoah Foundation Institute to hold a round-table discussion in Los Angeles titled “Strength Through Adversity: Women and Mass Violence”.

An exhibition of 160 photographs on the 2011 Japan Earthquake and Tsunami and UNICEF’s emergency work will open with a formal ceremony on Monday, 5 March, in the Main Gallery of the Visitors’ Lobby at 6 p.m.
