A United Nations video conference to promote education about the Holocaust, with students in seven countries in Africa and Asia, will take place on Monday, 15 November. Organized by the “Holocaust and United Nations Outreach Programme” in partnership with the House of the Wannsee Conference and Memorial and Educational site in Berlin, it will take place in observance of the anniversary of the Kristallnacht Pogrom on 9 November 1938.

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon will host a press conference on 5 November to receive the final report of his High-Level Advisory Group on Climate Change Financing from the Co-chairs, Prime Minister Meles Zenawi of Ethiopia and Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg of Norway. The event is scheduled for 9:15 a.m. in the Dag Hammarskjold Library Auditorium at United Nations Headquarters in New York.

A media relations campaign aimed at encouraging Kenyans to participate in the country’s 2009 population census has been chosen for the 2010 United Nations Grand Award for outstanding achievement in public relations. The award will be presented by the Director of the United Nations Regional Information Centre for Western Europe at a ceremony on Friday, 5 November, at the Merchant Taylors’ Hall in London, as part of the International Public Relations Association's 2010 Golden World Awards.

The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria and Magnum Photos will open an exhibition to the public on Tuesday, 5 October, entitled “Access to Life”. Through photography, multimedia pieces and text, the project chronicles the transformative effect that access to free antiretroviral drug treatments is having on AIDS patients around the world.

Radio programming from Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States will be honoured on Friday, 24 September, when the United Nations Department of Public Information awards are presented as part of the New York Festivals Radio Program and Promotion Awards at the Manhattan Penthouse, New York City. Lena Dissin, Deputy Director and Officer-in-charge, Outreach Division, will present the awards on behalf of the United Nations Department of Public Information.

An international effort to link environmental conservation and scientific research with luxury tourism, with the aim of empowering nations to create immense wealth from the knowledge held within their natural resources, will mark a milestone on Sunday afternoon with the launch of a study, “The Economic Power of Wonder: From Oil Wealth to Knowledge Wealth”, at the United Nations International School (UNIS).
