Organization matters

The Independent Audit Advisory Committee of the United Nations held its fourteenth session from 12 to 13 April at United Nations Headquarters in New York.

The Independent Audit Advisory Committee of the United Nations (IAAC) held its thirteenth session from 15 to 17 February 2011. The session, which was held at United Nations Headquarters in New York, was presided over by the Chairman, David M. Walker, with all the members of the IAAC in attendance, namely John F.S. Muwanga (Vice-Chairman), Vadim V. Dubinkin, Vinod Rai and Adrian P. Strachan.

The United Nations Staff Union and its Committee for the Security and Independence of the International Civil Service continue to mourn the many United Nations staff members who paid with their lives while serving the Organization in an “annus horribilis” epitomized by the earthquake that struck Haiti on 12 January 2010.

The Independent Audit Advisory Committee of the United Nations (IAAC) held its twelfth session from 15 to 16 December. The session, which was held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, was presided over by the Chairman, David M. Walker, with all the members of IAAC, namely, Vadim V. Dubinkin, Vice-Chairman Vijayendra N. Kaul, John F.S. Muwanga and Adrian P. Strachan, in attendance.

The United Nations Board of Auditors held its sixty-fourth regular session during the period 19-21 July to review and approve the audit reports of the Board which are due to be tabled during the current session of the General Assembly and other legislative/governing bodies. A total of 24 reports were discussed and approved, 18 of which will be deliberated upon in the coming days by the Fifth Committee (Administrative and Budgetary) of the General Assembly.

The session was presided over by the Chairman, David M. Walker, and attended by all the Committee members, Vijayendra N. Kaul (Vice-Chairman), Vadim V. Dubinkin, John F.S. Muwanga and Adrian P. Strachan.

The session was presided over by the Chairman, David M. Walker, and attended by all the Committee members, Vijayendra N. Kaul (Vice-Chairman), Vadim V. Dubinkin, John F.S. Muwanga and Adrian P. Strachan.

The new United Nations Appeals Tribunal completed its first session ever 1 April. Sitting for three weeks in Geneva, the court decided 33 appeals. After translation, the judgments will be released and posted on the website maintained by the Office of Administration of Justice in the month of April.

The Independent Audit Advisory Committee of the United Nations held its ninth session at United Nations Headquarters in New York from 17 to 19 February 2010.

The trend of deadly attacks against United Nations personnel continued in 2009, with at least 28 civilian staff members losing their lives due to acts of violence, according to the United Nations Staff Union Committee for the Security and Independence of the International Civil Service.
