The United Nations Department of Public Information will honour the heroic actions of 12 diplomats who demonstrated moral courage and integrity in helping to save the lives of Jews during the Second World War by screening the award-winning documentary film The Rescuers at 6:30 p.m. on 23 January in the Economic and Social Council Chamber at New York Headquarters.

An opening ceremony for an art exhibition entitled “ Palestine: Memories, Dreams, Perseverance” will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, 29 November, at the North-East Gallery of the Visitors Lobby. This exhibit is presented under the auspices of the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People, in observance of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.

An exhibition commemorating the sixtieth anniversary of guided tours opens in the Main Gallery of the Visitors Lobby on Thursday, 15 November, at 5 p.m. Senior United Nations officials, delegates, civil society and a large number of former and current tour guides will attend the event. The exhibit features historical photographs and artefacts and offers a comprehensive introduction to the work of the tour guides and of guided tours.

On Thursday, 8 November, the United Nations Department of Public Information, in partnership with the Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to the United Nations, will hold a discussion entitled “From Forgotten Memory to Nascent Remembrance: Holocaust History and Education in Russia Today”, featuring Ilya Altman, renowned historian and co-founder and co-chairman of the Russian Research and Educational Holocaust Centre in Moscow.
