United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon today announced the appointment of Major General Young-Bum Choi of the Republic of Korea as Chief Military Observer and Head of Mission of the United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP).

The Secretary-General has appointed Parfait Onanga-Anyanga of Gabon as his Special Representative and Head of the United Nations Office in Burundi (BNUB).

The Secretary-General has appointed Amina J. Mohammed of Nigeria as Special Adviser on Post-2015 Development Planning.

For the position of Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs, United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has selected Wu Hongbo of China, who since 2009 has been Ambassador of China to Germany. Mr. Wu has over 30 years of high-level experience, including close collaboration in international conferences and with multilateral organizations.

For the position of Under-Secretary-General for Communications and Public Information, United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has selected Peter Launsky-Tieffenthal of Austria, who since 2007 has been the Spokesman and Head of the Department for Communication and Information of the Austrian Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs.

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has appointed Jens Anders Toyberg-Frandzen of Denmark as his Executive Representative and Head of the United Nations Integrated Peacebuilding Office in Sierra Leone (UNIPSIL). Mr. Toyberg-Frandzen will replace Michael von der Schulenburg.

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has appointed Karin Landgren of Sweden as his Special Representative for Liberia.

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today announced the appointment of Major General Robert Mood of Norway as the Chief Military Observer and Head of Mission of the United Nations Supervision Mission in Syria (UNSMIS).

The Secretary-General has selected David Muchoki Kanja of Kenya for the newly created position of Assistant Secretary-General for the Office of Internal Oversight Services.

The Secretary-General has selected Ameerah Haq of Bangladesh as Under-Secretary-General for the Department of Field Support.
