Convening its second-ever Coordination Segment, the Economic and Social Council today heard from experts and delegates alike on recovering from the COVID 19 pandemic and realizing the Sustainable Development Goals as it identified several transformative policy recommendations to that end.
Renewed broad-based engagement, reinvigorated political commitment and revitalized partnership across all sectors of society are needed to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic and realize the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, nearly 50 speakers told the Economic and Social Council today at its annual Partnership Forum.

Against the backdrop of a highly uncertain global outlook, with rising food and fuel prices blunting efforts to emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic, the Economic and Social Council formally adopted the ministerial declaration of its high-level political forum on sustainable development today, reaffirming that poverty eradication is an “indispensable requirement” for building resilient societies.
