On Monday, 13 July, in Brasilia, Brazil, the Secretary-General of the United Nations begins a five-nation tour in Latin America that will also take him to Uruguay, Argentina, Guatemala and Mexico.
I wish to clarify that, contrary to press reports out of Bogota, Colombia, neither the Secretary-General nor any authorized official has proposed that the United Nations play a role in peace negotiations in that country.
