SECURITY COUNCIL APPROVES PURCHASE OF OIL-PRODUCTION EQUIPMENT ALLOWING IRAQ TO MEET 'OIL-FOR-FOOD' GOALS
19980619Noting that under existing circumstances Iraq is unable to export petroleum or petroleum products sufficient to produce $5.256 billion worth of oil, referred to in resolution 1153 (1998), the Security Council this afternoon authorized States to export necessary equipment to allow Iraq to meet that sum.
