WOMEN'S ANTI-DISCRIMINATION COMMITTEE BEGINS CONSIDERATION OF SOUTH AFRICA'S INITIAL REPORT

Despite the legacy of discrimination and underdevelopment of the apartheid regime, South Africa had made significant achievements in promoting the equality of women, the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women was told this morning, as that country presented its first-ever report.
