AMMAN, 14 November (UNRWA) -- The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) has won the King Hussein Humanitarian Leadership Prize for its 50 years of services to Palestine refugees and its emergency work in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip over the last 13 months.

PALESTINIAN JOURNALISTS TAKE PART IN DPI TRAINING PROGRAMME


For the sixth consecutive year, the United Nations Department of Public Information is hosting a training programme for Palestinian media practitioners, which is taking place at United Nations Headquarters from 22 October to 14 December.  A total of 9 Palestinian broadcasters and journalists are participating in the 2001 programme.

AMMAN, Jordan, 24 September (UNRWA) -- The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) is facing a financial crisis at a time when it is needed more than ever as a force for stability in the Middle East.  That was the stark message of Peter Hansen, UNRWA’s Commissioner-General, to a meeting of donor and host nations in Amman, Jordan, today.

REVIEWS RECENT MIDEAST DEVELOPMENTS


The Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People this morning elected by acclamation Papa Louis Fall (Senegal) as its Chairman for a one-year term.  Mr. Fall replaced Acting Chairman Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla (Cuba).
