Security Council Extends Mandate for United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in Democratic Republic of Congo, Unanimously Adopting Resolution 2612 (2021)

The Security Council decided today to extend the mandate of the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO), alongside its Force Intervention Brigade, until 20 December 2022, also welcoming President Felix Tshisekedi’s efforts in the political and human rights arenas and demanding that all armed groups immediately cease all forms of violence and other destabilizing activities.

General Assembly Takes Action on Second Committee Reports by Adopting 37 Resolutions, 2 Decisions

Security Council Unanimously Adopts Resolution 2611 (2021), Extending Mandate of Team Monitoring Sanctions against Taliban-Linked Entities in Afghanistan

The Security Council decided today to extend for 12 months the mandate of the team monitoring sanctions against individuals and entities associated with the Taliban, as well as other individuals, groups, undertakings and entities associated with the Taliban in constituting a threat to the peace, stability and security of Afghanistan.

Extending Mandate for ISIL (Da’esh) Sanctions Framework, Security Council Unanimously Adopts Resolution 2610 (2021)

Updating comprehensive counter-terrorism measures against Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), also known as Da’esh, and Al-Qaida today, the Security Council extended the mandates of the Ombudsperson and the Monitoring Team for its related sanctions regime for two and a half years.
