More than 2,000 indigenous participants from all regions of the world are expected to attend the fourteenth session of the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues at United Nations Headquarters in New York from 20 April to 1 May, where Members of the Permanent Forum will engage with indigenous peoples, United Nations Member States, and United Nations agencies.

DOHA, 19 April — Justice for all was a critical key to the success of the new sustainable development goals and an invaluable tool to fight criminal activities, terrorism and violence threatening communities around the world, delegates heard as the thirteenth United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice concluded today.

DOHA, 18 April — With the explosion of social media, modernizing law enforcement techniques in the fight against crime was essential to bolstering community trust and involvement while combating new online threats, including terrorist recruitment and cyberbullying, delegates heard on the penultimate day of the thirteenth United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice.

The United Nations Department of Public Information, the United States Mission to the United Nations and Paramount Pictures will organize a special screening of the movie Selma for the United Nations diplomatic community and staff members.  The event will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, 23 April, at United Nations Headquarters in New York.

This morning, the Secretary-General and the heads of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund heard from the Presidents of Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone about efforts to deal with the Ebola outbreak in those countries.
