The United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres arrived in Kuwait from Kenya early on Sunday, 12 May, for an official visit to meet with the new Amir of Kuwait.

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) today released the third edition of its World Wildlife Crime Report, which says that wildlife trafficking has not been substantially reduced despite two decades of concerted action.

In Myanmar, the UN and humanitarian partners today published the 2024 Humanitarian Needs and Response Plan which indicates that nearly three years after the military takeover a third of the population — about 18.6 million people — needs humanitarian aid, up 1 million from last year.

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has appointed Ghada Hatim Eltahir Mudawi of Sudan as the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Kuwait, with the host Government’s approval.

The new Permanent Representative of Kuwait to the United Nations, Tareq M A M Albanai, presented his credentials to UN Secretary-General António Guterres today.
