United Nations humanitarian agencies make progress in Haiti, despite obstacles


NEW YORK, 9 November (OCHA) -- United Nations agencies operating in Haiti report that the humanitarian situation in Haiti’s north-western city of Gonaïves is improving though serious concerns remain.

FIGHTING IN CÔTE D’IVOIRE JEOPARDIZES HUMANITARIAN AID

 


NEW YORK, 4 November(UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs) -- An eruption of fighting around the Ivorian city of Bouaké, some 300 km north of Abidjan, threatens to cut thousands of people off from urgently needed humanitarian aid.  Due to tensions across Côte d’Ivoire, United Nations humanitarian workers are suspending their activities throughout the country today.

UN organizations say current violence is pushing Gaza into humanitarian crisis


JERUSALEM, 5 October (Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs) -- Twelve United Nations organizations* working in Gaza today stated that the ongoing violence on top of the sharply deteriorating humanitarian situation this year is pushing the Palestinian population into a deep crisis.

UN AIDS BANGLADESH IN AFTERMATH OF MASSIVE FLOODING

 


NEW YORK, 23 September (UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs) –- United Nations humanitarian agencies continue to bring aid to Bangladesh as heavy rains continue in the aftermath of the August’s massive flooding, the worst that country suffered in decades.
