The Security Council this afternoon demanded that the Croatian Government take measures to ensure that the local Serb population may fully exercise their rights, including their right to remain, leave or return to their homes, and reclaim possession of their property.

19960131 In accordance with the principle of alphabetical rotation, the following new Chairmen of United Nations security bodies will take office on 1 February 1996:

Madeleine K. Albright (United States) will succeed Sir John Weston (United Kingdom) as President of the Security Council.
