NEW CHAIRMEN OF UNITED NATIONS SECURITY BODIES IN NOVEMBER

19971103 In accordance with the principle of alphabetical rotation, the following are new Chairmen of United Nations security bodies for November:

Security Council

Qin Huasun (China) succeeds Juan Somavia (Chile) as President of the Security Council.

Military Staff Committee

Vice-Admiral John Scott Redd (United States) succeeds Major-General Charles G.C. Vyvyan (United Kingdom) as Chairman of the Military Staff Committee.
