SECURITY COUNCIL EXTENDS MANDATE OF UN MISSION IN ETHIOPIA


AND ERITREA FOR SIX MONTHS


Resolution 1434 (2002) Adopted Unanimously


The Security Council this morning extended the mandate of the United Nations Mission in Ethiopia and Eritrea (UNMEE), at unchanged levels of troops and military observers, for six months ending 15 March 2003.

Speakers in the Security Council this morning strongly supported efforts of the United Nations Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK) towards fostering the rule of law in that province, following a briefing by Hedi Annabi, United Nations Assistant Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations.

1267 COMMITTEE APPROVES DELETION OF THREE INDIVIDUALS


AND THREE ENTITIES FROM ITS LIST


On 26 August 2002, the 1267 Committee approved the deletion of the three individuals and the three entities cited below from its consolidated list

(the Al-Qaida section)*.  The Committee’s decision is based on the information provided by two Member States.   


Individuals:
