On 16 September 2015, the Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 2140 (2014) enacted the amendments specified with underline in the entry below on its List of individuals subject to the assets freeze and travel ban measures set out in paragraphs 11 and 15, respectively, of resolution 2140 (2014) and the arms embargo set out in paragraph 14 of resolution 2216 (2015) adopted under Chapter VII of the Charter of the United Nations.

Sanctions imposed on Iran under successive Security Council resolutions remained in full effect until the 15-member body received confirmation from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) that the country had taken a set of nuclear-related actions in accordance with resolution 2231 (2015), the head of the designated sanctions committee said today.

A training course for national points of contact of States in the Asia-Pacific region for the implementation of Security Council resolution 1540 (2004) took place in Qingdao, China, from 7 to 11 September.  The course, hosted by the Government of China on behalf of the Security Council’s 1540 Committee, was the first of its kind.  The 1540 Committee hopes that the course, which is an excellent example of the regional approach it favours, will be replicated in other regions of the world.

On 9 September 2015, the Security Council Committee pursuant to resolutions 1267 (1999) and 1989 (2011) concerning Al-Qaida and associated individuals and entities removed the name below from the Al-Qaida Sanctions List after concluding its consideration of the delisting requests for this name submitted through the Office of the Ombudsperson established pursuant to Security Council resolution 1904 (2009), and after considering the Comprehensive Report of the Ombudsperson on this delisting request.
