On 1 April 2016, the Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 1970 (2011) concerning Libya enacted the amendments specified with strikethrough and underline in the entries below on its List (the Libya Sanctions List) of individuals and entities subject to the assets freeze and travel ban set out in paragraphs 15 and/or 17 of Security Council resolution 1970 (2011) and/or paragraph 19 of resolution 1973 (2011), adopted under Chapter VII of the Charter of the United Nations.

On 22 March 2016, the Security Council Working Group on peacekeeping operations held an organizational meeting to discuss the provisional work plan for the year.
On 28 March 2016, the Security Council Committee pursuant to resolutions 1267 (1999), 1989 (2011) and 2253 (2015) concerning ISIL (Da’esh), Al-Qaida and associated individuals, groups, undertakings and entities approved the addition of the entry specified below to its ISIL (Da’esh) and Al-Qaida Sanctions List of individuals and entities subject to the assets freeze, travel ban and arms embargo set out in paragraph 2 of Security Council resolution 2253 (2015) adopted under Chapter VII of the Charter of the United Nations.
The members of the Security Council condemned in the strongest terms the 27 March terrorist attack in Lahore, Pakistan, which resulted in the deaths of more than 70 people, while leaving over 250 injured, and for which Tehrik-e-Taliban has claimed responsibility. They expressed their deepest sympathy and condolences to the families of the victims and to the people and Government of Pakistan. They also wished a speedy recovery to those left injured.

On 14 March 2016, the Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 2206 (2015) concerning South Sudan and the Security Council Working Group on Children and Armed Conflict held joint informal consultations featuring a briefing by the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict, Leila Zerrougui, concerning the impact of the armed conflict on children in South Sudan.
On 21 March 2016, the Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 1718 (2006) decided that the following four vessels, specified in Annex III of resolution 2270 (2016) pursuant to paragraph 23 of the same resolution, are not economic resources controlled or operated by Ocean Maritime Management and therefore not subject to the asset freeze imposed in paragraph 8 (d) of resolution 1718 (2006):
