The Secretary-General has decided to appoint Alfredo Lopes Cabral, who is currently serving as the Permanent Representative of Guinea-Bissau to the United Nations, as his next Representative and Head of the United Nations Civilian Police Mission in Haiti (MIPONUH).
Secretary-General Kofi Annan announced today the appointment of Ambassador Ivo Petrov of Bulgaria with effect from 20 September 1999, to succeed Jan Kubis as Special Representative for Tajikistan. Mr. Kubis relinquished his post on 21 June 1999 to become Secretary-General of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).
