On Tuesday morning, 17 January, the Secretary-General arrived in Davos, Switzerland, where he would deliver on Wednesday a special address on “The State of the World”.

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres appointed Catherine Weibel of France as Director of the United Nations Information Centre in Islamabad, Pakistan.

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres appointed Sheri Ritsema-Anderson of the United States as the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Jordan, with the host Government’s approval.

Following the recommendation of the Secretary-General, after consultation with Member States, the General Assembly confirmed Inger Andersen of Denmark as Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) for a further four-year term beginning on 15 June 2023 and ending on 14 June 2027.
