United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon announced today the appointment of Jennifer Welsh of Canada as his Special Adviser at the Assistant Secretary-General level. She will succeed Edward Luck of the United States, who left the position in June 2012, and to whom the Secretary-General is deeply grateful.

On 10 July 2013, the Security Council Committee pursuant to resolutions 1267 (1999) and 1989 (2011) approved the deletion (delisting) of the entry specified below from the Al-Qaida Sanctions List. The assets freeze, travel ban and arms embargo set out in paragraph 1 of Security Council resolution 2083 (2012) therefore no longer apply to the following entry:

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, following consultation with Member States, announced today the appointment of Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka of South Africa as Executive Director of the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women (UN-Women). Ms. Mlambo-Ngcuka replaces Michelle Bachelet.
