The following statement was issued today by Abdou Salam Diallo (Senegal), Chairman of the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People, on the passing of Nelson Mandela:

NEW YORK, 22 November (Division for Palestinian Rights) — The Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People will hold a special meeting in observance of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People in the Economic and Social Council Chamber at 10 a.m. on Monday, 25 November, in accordance with General Assembly resolutions 32/40 B of 2 December 1977 and 67/21 of 30 November 2012.

The Bureau of the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People issued the following statement today, 7 November:

The Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka to the United Nations, Palitha T.B. Kohona, was elected Chair of the Sixth Committee (Legal) on 1 October 2013.

Janne Taalas, Deputy Permanent Representative of Finland to the United Nations, was elected Chair of the Fifth Committee (Administrative and Budgetary) on 1 October 2013.

Carlos Enrique García González was elected Chair of the Fourth Committee (Special Political and Decolonization) on 1 October.

Stephan Tafrov (Bulgaria) was elected Chair of the Third Committee (Social, Humanitarian and Cultural) on 1 October.

Abdou Salam Diallo was elected Chair of the Second Committee (Economic and Financial) on 1 October.
