The General Assembly would raise from the previous limit of $12,000 payments that could be made to United Nations system pension-drawing retirees to $22,000 per calendar year, should it adopt a draft decision approved this morning without a vote by the Fifth Committee (Administrative and Budgetary) as it considered human resources management.

The General Assembly this afternoon completed the election of 18 members to the 54-member Economic and Social Council, with the election of Sri Lanka from among the Group of Asian States to fill the last remaining vacancy on the Council.
