Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations

The Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations today concluded substantive work of its 2017 regular session with the presentation of the body’s draft report, which will be finalized for adoption later this month.

The Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations today recommended 30 organizations for special consultative status with the Economic and Social Council, while deferring action on the status of 60 others.

The Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations today deferred its consideration of five groups requesting consultative status with the Economic and Social Council, while recommending the reclassification of one accredited non-governmental organization — World Council for Curriculum and Instruction (United States) — from “roster” status to “special” consultative status.

Continuing its regular session for 2017, the Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations today recommended six organizations for consultative status with the Economic and Social Council and deferred action on the status of 80 others.

Continuing its regular session for 2017, the Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations today recommended 58 organizations for consultative status with the Economic and Social Council, deferred action on the status of 51 others and postponed consideration of one request for status that had been submitted after the merger of two organizations.

Continuing its regular session for 2017, the Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations today recommended 49 organizations for special consultative status with the Economic and Social Council and deferred action on the status of 50 others.  The Committee also recommended that one organization be reclassified as having general consultative status and deferred consideration of two organizations' reclassification applications.

Continuing its regular session for 2017, the Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations today recommended 100 organizations for special consultative status with the Economic and Social Council and deferred action on the status of 54 others.

Opening its regular session for 2017, the Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations today recommended 21 organizations for special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council, and deferred action on the status of 13 others.

Following an amendment on the review of working methods and other related matters, the Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations today adopted the report of its 2016 May-June session, during which it recommended to the Economic and Social Council 188 organizations for consultative status and deferred 235 for further consideration at its regular session in 2017.

Suspending its 2016 resumed session pending one final day of work, the Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations today recommended 23 organizations for special consultative status with the Economic and Social Council, while deferring action on 44 organizations.
