COMMISSION PANEL ON WOMEN AND AIDS DISCUSSES RELATIONS BETWEEN MEN AND WOMEN,


NEED FOR TREATMENT ACCESS, AND QUESTION OF AIDS TESTING


During an expert panel discussion this afternoon on “Women, Girls and HIV/AIDS”, the Commission on the Status of Women was told that the disease was a relational issue and thus a gender and human security issue.

The Commission on the Status of Women met this afternoon and considered a draft proposal on its multi-year programme of work for the period 2002-2006 entitled “Women 2000: gender equality, development and peace for the twenty-first century”.
