MOLDOVA RESPONDS TO EXPERTS’ QUESTIONS IN WOMEN’S ANTI-DISCRIMINATION COMMITTEE

Moldova’s political will to move into a democratic, free market society with a social orientation should not be undertaken without the input of women, nor should it have detrimental effects on women’s rights or equality, the Vice- Chairperson of the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women told representatives of that country this morning.

A review of Cameroon’s legislation had revealed that most laws were not discriminatory in nature; discrimination was more de facto than legal, the representative of Cameroon told experts this morning during the introduction of its initial periodic report on compliance with the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women.
