TV PROJECTION SCREENS IN GENERAL ASSEMBLY HALL EXTENDED

The two large-scale television projection screens installed in the General Assembly Hall for the Millennium Summit have proved so successful and well-liked by delegations that their use has been extended for an additional two weeks beyond the Millennium Summit, to cover the General Debate period of the General Assembly session.

NEW YORK (DESA), 11 September -- The Government of Japan has contributed 642 million yen for financing the activities of the United Nations Centre for Regional Development during the fiscal year 2000–2001, the Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA), the executing agency for the project, announced today.

JAPANESE ‘TEA FOR PEACE’ CEREMONY TO BE HELD AT HEADQUARTERS

A Japanese "Tea for Peace" ceremony will take place on Thursday, 14 September, at 12:30 p.m. in the North Delegates' Lounge.

Yukio Satoh, the Permanent Representative of Japan to the United Nations, will host the occasion. Soshitsu Sen, Fifteenth Generation Grand Master of the 400-year-old Urasenke Tradition of Tea, will preside over the ceremony.
