On 25 May 2012, the Security Council Committee pursuant to resolutions 1267 (1999) and 1989 (2011) enacted the amendments specified with strikethrough and underline in the entry below on its Al-Qaida Sanctions List of individuals and entities subject to the assets freeze, travel ban and arms embargo set out in paragraph 1 of Security Council resolution 1989 (2011) adopted under Chapter VII of the Charter of the United Nations.

NEW YORK, 25 May, Office for Disarmament Affairs — through its Regional Centre for Peace, Disarmament and Development in Latin America and the Caribbean (UNLIREC) provided a set of small arms destruction equipment to Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and Grenada and trained national officers on the use of the equipment.

In May 2012, the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs, through its Regional Centre for Peace, Disarmament and Development in Latin America and the Caribbean (UNLIREC) provided a set of small arms destruction equipment to Jamaica and trained national officers on the use of the equipment. These activities aim to strengthen the capacity of Jamaica to combat the illicit trafficking in small arms and light weapons nationally, as well as in the Caribbean region.

The Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People will convene the United Nations International Meeting on the Question of Palestine on 30 and 31 May at the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, UNESCO, in Paris. The theme of the Meeting is “The role of youth and women in the peaceful resolution of the question of Palestine”.
