European Union Commissioner, Emma Bonino, responsible for the management of the European Union's Humanitarian Office, Fisheries and Consumer Policy, told correspondents at a Headquarters press conference this morning, that the European Union had agreed to the necessity of protecting the delivery of its humanitarian aid in Albania.

At a press briefing yesterday afternoon, correspondents were told that the Security Council Committee established under resolution 661 (1990) to monitor the sanctions against Iraq had approved 34 out of 56 applications that had been submitted to it by the Secretariat, which had received a total of 324 applications.

He said he had recently returned from the region and would be going back there later in the week.
