Opening its regular session for 2018, the Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations today recommended 95 organizations for special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council and deferred action on the status of 37 others.

The Department of Public Information/Non-Governmental Organizations Association Committee today associated 21 non‑governmental organizations with the United Nations Department of Public Information. One non‑governmental organization was also disassociated at the committee meeting. That brings the number of non‑governmental organizations working with the Department in the area of communications and outreach to 1,485.

The Department of Public Information/Non-Governmental Organizations Association Committee today associated 15 non-governmental organizations with the United Nations Department, bringing to 1,465 the number of working with the Department in the area of communications and outreach.
Concluding its 2017 resumed session with the adoption of its report, the Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations today forwarded the applications of 191 groups to the Economic and Social Council with the recommendation that they be granted special consultative status, as opinions diverged over certain elements of the text as well as the Committee’s underlying editorial practices.
The Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations today suspended its 2017 resumed session pending one final day of work next month when its report will be finalized for adoption.
