Concluding Its Session, Second Committee Approves 11 Draft Resolutions, Including Texts on Women’s Development, Global Tax Cooperation, Entrepreneurship

The Second Committee (Economic and Financial) today approved 11 texts on a range of topics, from the development of women to tax cooperation, with votes on operative paragraphs, amendments and entire drafts, as it concluded its seventy-seventh session.

Senior Official Condemns Russian Federation’s Missile Strikes against Ukraine’s Critical Infrastructure, as Security Council Holds Emergency Meeting on Attacks

Hours after the Russian Federation launched a barrage of missile and drone strikes attacks against civilians and critical infrastructure across Ukraine overnight, a United Nations senior official condemned such attacks and demanded they stop, stressing to the Security Council that they are prohibited under international humanitarian law, as that 15-nation organ held an emergency meeting on the matter today.

Briefing Security Council on Work Overseeing Mali Sanctions, 2374 Committee Chair Says List Has Been Updated for First Time Since 2017

​​​​​​​The Chair of the Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 2374 (2017) concerning Mali briefed the Security Council today on its activities in 2022, noting that for the first time since its establishment in 2017, the Committee updated its Sanctions List, which currently comprises eight individuals deemed to obstructing the country’s peace process.
