In parallel meetings today, the Economic and Social Council wrapped up its Annual Ministerial Review, spotlighting actions and progress aimed at achieving the global agenda on women’s issues, as it also began its general debate, which heard nearly 50 Government delegations outline their efforts to promote higher standards of living, full employment and socio-economic progress — particularly for women and girls — at home and abroad.

Education Is Focus for 2010 as New York Premiere of Documentary ‘A Small Act’ Kicks Off Second Annual Envision Forum

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon will make opening remarks at the New York premiere of "A Small Act", a documentary film that traces the journey a young man from his African childhood to his career with the United Nations, thanks to a distant benefactor. The screening will take place on Thursday, 8 July, at the HBO Theater in New York City, co-hosted by HBO, the Independent Filmmaker Project (IFP) and the United Nations Department of Public Information.
