Secretary-General Appoints Diane Corner of United Kingdom Deputy Special Representative for MINUSCA

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon announced today the appointment of Diane Corner of the United Kingdom as his Deputy Special Representative and Deputy Head of the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic, established by Security Council resolution 2149 (2014) of 10 April.

Exhibitions on Holocaust to Open at United Nations Headquarters

Three exhibitions on the Holocaust will open to the public in the Main Gallery of the Visitors Lobby, as part of a week-long series of Holocaust remembrance activities at the United Nations. The International Day of Commemoration in memory of the victims of the Holocaust is 27 January and the theme of this year’s observance is “Children and the Holocaust”.

Activities of Secretary-General in Lebanon, 13-15 January

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon arrived in Beirut on the afternoon of Friday, 13 January, after an overnight flight from New York and a transfer in Paris. The main aims of the trip were to attend a high-level United Nations meeting on Reform and Transitions to Democracy, visit staff of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) and hold bilateral meetings with Lebanese leaders.

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon arrived in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, on the afternoon of Sunday, 15 January, from Beirut. The main aim was to attend the World Future Energy Summit and to launch the Year of Sustainable Energy. He also held a range of bilateral meetings and addressed the closing session of the Assembly of the International Renewable Energy Agency.
