I have the pleasure to introduce His Excellency Professor Diogo Freitas do Amaral, President of the General Assembly, who has been here, as you know, from the beginning of the Assembly and who has developed his own creative proposals and ideas, in addition to the official functions he is performing as President of the Assembly. I take the opportunity to welcome him here and to invite him to take the floor.

Three years in preparation, the World Programme of Action for Youth to the Year 2000 and Beyond was adopted by the General Assembly this morning without a vote.
In Press Release GA/9035 of 12 December, the fourth paragraph on page 19 should be corrected to read as follows:
"EGIDIUS HAKWENYE (Namibia) said his delegation had received proper instructions on the draft resolution on nuclear testing."
