Twenty Speakers Address Issues of Effective Conflict Settlement, Gap between Initiatives and Results, Paucity of Development Resources
Six Member States pledged over $1 million this afternoon during the 2000 United Nations/Food and Agriculture Organization Pledging Conference for the World Food Programme (WFP).
Speakers stressed the need to close the gap between the developed and developing countries this afternoon as the General Assembly concluded its debate on implementation of the outcome of the 1995 World Summit for Social Development and the related special Assembly session held this summer in Geneva.
Without a vote, the General Assembly this morning adopted a resolution on peace, security and reunification on the Korean peninsula. It also discussed its agenda items on global partnerships and on the implementation of the outcome of the World Summit for Social Development and of the related General Assembly special session.
