ROME, 18 September (FAO) -- After the failure of the world trade talks in Cancún, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO)today urged countries to consider seriously informal contacts with a view to returning to the negotiation table, with a better outcome this time.

ECOSOC ESTABLISHES COMPOSITION OF ADVISORY GROUP AIMED

AT PEACE-BUILDING, RECONSTRUCTION IN BURUNDI


The Economic and Social Council this morning established the composition of its Ad Hoc Advisory Group on Burundi, which was created on 21 July to help the country through its transition from conflict to peace and aid its reconstruction.

GENEVA, 25 July (UN Information Service) -- The Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) this morning suspended its 2003 substantive session after adopting five resolutions and 13 decisions on economic, environmental and indigenous issues.
