CONFERENCE ON DISARMAMENT OPENS FIRST PART OF 1996 SESSION
19960125GENEVA, 23 January (UN Information Service) -- The Conference on Disarmament today heard appeals for the rapid conclusion of a comprehensive nuclear test-ban treaty by June 1996 and reestablished its Ad Hoc Committee on a Nuclear-Test Ban, as it began the first part of its 1996 session.

PLEDGES ANNOUNCED FOR UN DISARMAMENT INFORMATION PROGRAMME
19951027Fourteen countries pledged $279,755 this morning for disarmament trust funds at the thirteenth United Nations Pledging Conference for the United Nations Disarmament Information Programme, while three additional countries indicated their intention to pledge at a later date. The pledging campaign will remain open until 31 March 1996 for additional contributions.
