The Secretary-General flew to Washington, D.C. on Monday afternoon, 18 October, for a two-day visit. On arrival, he taped an interview for the public television programme NewsHour with Jim Lehrer. That evening, he attended a dinner hosted by World Bank President, James Wolfensohn.
The Secretary-General left Sarajevo for Pristina on Wednesday morning. He proceeded directly from the airport to the headquarters of the United Nations Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK). He was briefed on the Missions work by his Special Representative, Bernard Kouchner.
On Sunday, 10 October, the Secretary-General flew from Geneva to Rome. He had detailed discussions on Kosovo with his Special Envoy for the Balkans, Carl Bildt, in preparation for his forthcoming visits to Sarajevo and Pristina.
The Secretary-General arrived in Geneva in the evening of Friday, 8 October.
On Saturday morning, he had a series of meetings, starting with Djibril Diallo, head of the Public Affairs Division of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), who briefed him on plans for the UNDP's NetAid Concert scheduled for that evening.
The Secretary-General departed New York for Washington on the afternoon of Saturday, 25 September.
The Secretary-General travelled to Canada in the afternoon of Thursday, 2 September to Canada, where he attended the Eighth Francophonie Summit, which took place in Moncton, New Brunswick.
The Secretary-General left New York on Wednesday, 11 August, for Geneva, to participate at a ceremony commemorating the fiftieth anniversary of the Geneva Conventions. He spoke at the event, which was sponsored by the International Committee of the Red Cross, on Thursday morning.
The Secretary-General arrived in Austria on 18 July. He began his official programme the following day with a meeting with Austrian President Thomas Klestil. He was accompanied by Pino Arlacchi, Director General of the United Nations Office in Vienna.
