The Security Council this evening decided to renew the mandate of the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) for another period of six months until 31 May 2001.

As the Security Council held an emergency meeting on the Middle East this afternoon, the Observer for Palestine called for specific measures to end Israeli violations against the Palestinian people, while Israel's representative said that Palestinian leaders continued to call for an escalation of the current conflict.

Council Briefed by Presidents and Chief Prosecutor of Two Organs
The Security Council met today to take up the International Criminal Tribunals for the Former Yugoslavia and Rwanda. As it did so, it was briefed by the Presidents and Prosecutor of those two organs.
