SECURITY COUNCIL LIBERIA DIAMOND BAN AND TRAVEL BAN COME INTO FORCE


The President of the Security Council wishes to inform Member States that, in accordance with paragraph 8 of Security Council resolution 1343 (2001) adopted on 7 March 2001, the measures contained in paragraphs 6 (diamond ban) and 7 (travel ban) came into force at 00.01 Eastern Daylight Time on 7 May 2001.

TO GENERAL ASSEMBLY, UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTING RESOLUTION 1350 (2001)


Having decided to consider the nomination of ad litem judges for the International Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia, the Security Council forwarded a list of 64 judges to the General Assembly this afternoon.

IN PRESIDENTIAL STATEMENT, SECURITY COUNCIL SAYS LACK OF PROGRESS ON KEY ISSUES

REGARDING CONFLICT IN ABKHAZIA, GEORGIA, IS UNACCEPTABLE


The continued lack of progress on key issues concerning a comprehensive settlement of the conflict in Abkhazia, Georgia, was unacceptable, the Security Council stressed in a statement this afternoon.
