SECURITY COUNCIL EXTENDS MANDATE OF BODY INVESTIGATING VIOLATIONS

OF ANGOLA SANCTIONS, UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTING RESOLUTION 1348 (2001)


The Security Council this afternoon extended the mandate of the Monitoring Mechanism on Angola Sanctions until 19 October and requested it to provide a supplementary report by that date.

SECURITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE NAMES RUF MEMBERS SUBJECT TO EXPULSION FROM LIBERIA


The Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 1343 (2001) concerning Liberia recalls paragraph 2 (a) of that resolution, by which the Security Council:


“2  Demands that the Government of Liberia immediately cease its support for the RUF in Sierra Leone and for other armed rebel groups in the region, and in particular take the following concrete steps:

SECURITY COUNCIL FORWARDS NOMINATIONS FOR RWANDA TRIBUNAL JUDGES

TO GENERAL ASSEMBLY, ADOPTING RESOLUTION 1347 (2001) UNANIMOUSLY


Having considered the nomination of judges of the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda received by the Secretary-General, the Security Council this afternoon forwarded those nominations to the General Assembly.
