Following is today’s statement to the press on Georgia by Security Council President Ellen Margrethe Løj (Denmark):

SECURITY COUNCIL EXTENDS UN OPERATION IN CÔTE D’IVOIRE UNTIL 4 JUNE,

 

UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTING RESOLUTION 1600 (2005)

The Security Council decided this afternoon to extend the mandate of the United Nations Operation in Côte d’Ivoire (UNOCI), and of the French forces supporting it, for one month, until 4 June 2005.

The Security Council, reaffirming its commitment to assist the parties in Western Sahara to achieve a just, lasting and mutually acceptable political solution, extended the mandate of the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO) until 31 October.
